We’re baaaaaccccckkkk and it’s hot! I called it at 2:15 this afternoon. When I’m resting and sucking in hot air, it’s time to quit. We’re in a new mode at the farm. All of the visible piles have been taken care of. We’re now starting to work on “projects”. First project of the morning was to rescue the “keepers” out of the old garage (a.k.a. the metal storage facility). Took a pickup load to the “keeper area” and realized there was a ton of dirt that needed to be cleared. Hauled about 20 – 5 gallon buckets of dirt out and filled in holes in the corn crib driveway. While I was doing that, Beck started pulling out all of the woven and barb wire out of the old garage. We got a pickup load down to the landfill before lunch.
Stopped at the local lumber yard and bought some boards to fix the corn crib doors. Both doors have had broken boards for years and one of the door sliders broke last year, so it’s been a pain getting it open to get the tractor out. Beck got up on the ladder and took out the block of wood so we could work on the door. Beck gets the engineering award for the day because she figured out how to take the wheels off an old bracket and put it on the door. We got the new boards on and we’re ready to hang it back up TOMORROW!
