Cattle Bunk, Tractor Repair & King Cutter

I started off pulling the last cattle bunk on the farm to the burn pile. Lots of thoughts about all the years my dad fed cattle on the farm as I was growing up. He loved his cattle and it was a little tough pulling the last bunk through the yard.

Next task was to work on the 3 point hitch on the tractor. I broke it last fall when I was using the blade to smooth out the yard. Only took one trip to town for extra parts. You can see in the picture below what broke. The new part cost $135 – In my world, that would buy a pretty nice solid-state hard drive.

While I was going to town for parts, Beck had dad’s pickup and loaded it up with sticks, branches, boards, and other various stuff. See pic below. She also found snake #2, but no pictures.

After I got the new part installed, I hooked up to Dad’s King Kutter rotary mower. I’m pretty sure it has sat outside unused for at least 12-15 years. It took some WD-40 and banging with a hammer, but I got it going. I was able to mow Dad’s cattle lot as well as the lot below where he fed out hogs. I’m hoping to keep the weeds at bay this year.

Mom has someone taking out the popcorn ceilings in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. He finished up the painting just after noon and Beck went into massive cleaning mode in the house. Should have some good indoor pics tomorrow.

The weather is looking rainy for the next two days so not sure how much we’ll be able to do for this trip.
