Advil & Heat

Day 3. We’re alive (kinda) and done for the day. It was a hot one. Beck started out the day consolidating the tin from the metal repository to the machine shed. On the way, she decided to load a couple of tires with rims and messed up her back. More Advil! She filled in a hole where the clothes line used to be, cleaned up a bunch of sticks and branches under an old tree, and then worked the orchard pasture fence line digging out old boards and cutting down elm trees which were growing through the fence.

I had a pretty basic morning planned out. I took a bunch of photos and then I was going to use the push mower (because I screwed up the riding mower the last time we were down) to clean up the orchard and behind the farrowing house. This was where we did the big cleanup from a month ago. The grass and weeds were up around two feet so it was slow going. I was being a good boy and taking breaks, but about 11:30, things were getting really bright so I took a break. Drank a bunch of water, but the brightness wasn’t going away. We were going to Knoxville for lunch so Beck drove and I enjoyed the air conditioning. We had BBQ and felt much better after going to DQ for some ice cream. We unloaded the pickup with all of Beck’s work from the morning and called it a day. We’re off for a couple of days (maybe) and will be back at it on Monday! Happy 4th of July!
